Acai Berry - Side Effects
Found naturally in the Amazon rain forest, acai berries have been used for centuries by local tribes for their natural healing properties. Producing no side effects, this nutrient dense berry is ripe with antioxidants proven to prevent: cardiovascular disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s.
Pollen/Berry Allergies
If you suffer from a hypersensitivity to acai or similar berries, or have pollen allergies, we do recommend that you avoid trying acai berry products. Although cases reported have only been minor, acai berries may aggravate your symptoms and as a precaution you should consult with your doctor or a nutritionist first before trying these berries.
Acai Berry Supplements
With no known drug interactions, individuals taking medications for high blood pressure or are known to be pregnant, can safely take 100% pure acai berry supplements without having to worry about any negative interactions.
Most manufacturers recommend taking 1,000 to 4,000mg of acai berry supplements a day though this consumption should be judged on the potency of these supplements first before taking.
Acai Berry Juices/Purees
Acai Berry Purees are traditionally formulated using mashed acai berries. For this reason, there are no major side effects connected to Acai Berry Puree.
In the case of juices, manufacturers commonly mix acai berry with a mixture of other fruit juices and as a result it is possible that these fruit juices may cause minor side effects.
It is possible though by consuming too much of these acai berry juices to experience mild diarrhoea; however this is no different from other fruit juices. If you are concerned though, we suggest taking no more than 4 ounces of Acai Berry Puree or 12-16 ounces of acai berry juices.
Mixed Ingredient Acai Berry Products
Although pure, unaltered acai berry is free from side effects, following the production of mixed acai berry products there is a possibility of side effects.
In their quest to enhance acai berries natural qualities as well as save on money, many of these new products contain additional ingredients, including inert fillers, guarana (natural caffeine substitute), fruit juices and sugars.
Alongside their minimalization of the acai berry fruit itself, the overall potency of these products is dramatically reduced, and as of yet have not been tested to see their long term effects.
For this reason, we suggest you avoid trying this product - if you have got any pre-existing health problems – until these products have been accurately tested.
Which are the safest?
Whether you suffer from any underlying health problems or not, we recommend that you stick to only 100% pure, unaltered acai berry products.
